Support:
We are pleased to see the proposed replacement of non-original windows with wooden units that would closely match the adjacent property, 25 Kendal Green, as they were obviously built as a pair. It is however a shame that neither of the pair will now reflect the original casement design 25 Kendal Green had until relatively recently (ref: Kendal Green, A Georgian Wasteland Transformed, John and Jean Coopey, 2002 Helm Press p.94). The second floor window seems to have been designed as a ‘venetian’ style window and it would be an improvement to return it to that style, again, closer to the arrangement of No. 25 which, although altered, is closer to the original.
Whereas we would not normally consider insertion of double-glazed units into original traditional window sashes to be appropriate, where new windows are necessary and they can be accommodated without adversely affecting the glazing pattern we support the improved energy efficiency this provides as it contributes to the continued use of the building and helps to mitigate climate change.
